Ageing Paper With Tea
- I use fresh brewed teabags. As soon as it is cool enough to hold the bag, I squish the wet bag on to the paper. I go rough on the bag and make it really splotchy looking. Sometimes the paper of the bag rips open a bit and some of the tea crumbs are coming out. I do not remove those They leave a more distinct "dirt" spot. When the paper is dry, I iron it smooth and then print on it. When I make books or scrolls, I use the same technique. The tea yust has the right color of aged paper. Keep in mind when you stain the paper, that it looks more intensive in color when it is wet. It gets more subtle after drying. My rule of thumb. When I think that was too much, it turns out just right when it is dry. Angelika
