Finish weaving the sides of the dollhouse basket by making lines of pairing above the two or three lines of waling you wove in the previous step. In my basket I used chocolate raffia to weave the pairing above the waling, then followed this with a single paired line of fine ribbon for contrast.
If you are using wire wrapped with thread, make sure you glue the thread to the top ends of the wire to prevent it from fraying as you weave. Use pva glue to make sure it does not discolor.
Weave your basket until the sides are 1/4 to 3/8 inch high, leaving approximately 1/2 inch of bare wire to finish the top of the basket. I left the ends of my ribbon free on the sides of the basket in order to tie a bow at the top of the basket. You could also glue the paired ends to the basket interior.
The next step will show you how to make a decorative braided top on your basket.
