Guide Review - Review of Scale Auto Magazine
Scale Auto magazine and its companion annual Contest Cars are well photographed magazines designed for all levels of modeller. Regular features profile top modellers, new introductions, and modifications to existing kits. Illustrations and directions are clear and easily followed and the outlined techniques don't require the use of specialized equipment. Many of the how to's show modifications that can be done on a number of models, not just the one featured.
The Scale Auto website and the Contest Cars annual issue keep the aspiring modeller in touch with other builders. Contest Cars is compiled of model winners from more than 25 contests. These are models which are not usually featured in the magazine. The website also has Scale Auto Direct, sample pages and some past tutorials which are available in a downloadable Acrobat Reader Pdf format for a fee. Magazine subscribers have access to several tutorials and tips which are not available to ordinary viewers.
Each bimonthly edition of the magazine is roughly sixty pages or a standard format size, the Contest Car Annual is approximately 100 pages. Subscriptions are $24.95 US for one year (6 issues) Contest Cars Annual is $12.95 per annual issue.
