Decorative moldings for miniature furniture and building details can be cast in silicone putty molds. This technique lets you create stucco detail for walls, fancy carvings for mirror frames, fireplace mantles, and painted furniture. The technique is simple. Create a master shape in clay, modelling clay, wax or polymer clay, then create a mold from your master using silicone putty. The mold can be used over and over again to create sets of matching details for the exteriors of European dollhouses, a set of flower boxes, or a set of matching frames or chairs.
The garland on these resin flower boxes was first modelled in polymer clay, then cast in resin, to be used on a series of matching boxes.
