Glue the Top and Bottom On Your Pumpkin Boxes

A top is glued on an oval strip of paper to make a mini pumpkin treat box.

Form the base of the miniature pumpkin treat or dolls house candy box, by turning over the toothed edge and gluing it to a pumpkin top or base.

When you have your side strip trimmed and curved to fit on a top and bottom pumpkin cut out, use a glue spreader to apply a small amount of glue to the tabbed edges of the box side. Set the center fold of the side strip at the top of the pumpkin, and carefully run the side close to the edge of the pumpkin shape on the wrong side of the box top, gluing the tabs in place as you go. Run a glue spreader, a rounded toothpick or an embossing tool over the tabs on the inside of the box to make sure they are squarely glued to the bottom of the box. Set the top aside to dry. Make the bottom of the box the same way.

Before you set your box bottom aside to dry, make sure it fits inside the top of the box, if not you may need to adjust it slightly. Set it aside to dry.

When the top and bottom of the box are dry, trim any excess away from the top or bottom of the box and cut off the stem of the pumpkin on the bottom side of the box, leaving a stem only on the top.

To make dolls house scale candy boxes cut the side strips on the boxes to a suitable height (1/4 inch or less) before gluing them onto the box top and bottom. If you wish, you can cut out the eyes and mouth on the Jack O Lantern boxes and glue cellophane or tissue behind the mouth and eyes. If the boxes are set over cool led lights they will then glow . Do not put the paper boxes over regular light bulbs which give off heat and will start fires!
