Cut Out and Assemble the Shops.

Begin with the smallest and simplest black and white shop at the top of the page.

  • Cut out the building facade for the black and white shop and use a bone folder or a sharp straight edge to fold the sides of the shop crisply at right angles to the shop front. When you are cutting out the buildings you can ignore the cropping lines at the tops of the buildings.
  • Lay the shop front down flat on its printed surface
  • Locate the straight brown floor support line underneath the roof pieces, and cut it out, keeping the edges as straight as possible. Glue this piece to the back of the shop, lining it up with the bottom edge of the shop, it will act as the support for the floor above. Set aside to dry.
  • Cut out the wall papered interior sections. Each set of wall paper consists of a strip with a cornice trim and a separate baseboard piece below. Cut the baseboard out as a separate strip from the wall paper/cornice piece.
  • Trim the base of the wall paper to fit the first floor interior. You will need to trim off a bit at the bottom and the roof for some of the buildings. Use a spare scrap of card stock (or plywood or bristol board if you are using it as a backing) to act as a spacer between the base of the wallpaper and the floor support below. The space is needed to glue the floor into later. When you have the spacing correct, glue the wall paper across the span of the shop, making sure the edges are straight. Cover the bottom edge of your wall paper with the strip of separate baseboard molding leaving the space below free for the floor to be inserted later.
  • Add the second floor wallpaper the same way you did the first, leaving a small gap for the floor between the top cornice of the first floor wallpaper and the bottom of the second floor wallpaper. Glue the baseboard strip to the bottom of the second floor wall paper.
