Adding loose pieces of floral moss to the scene to create shrubs and plants gives dimension to the woodland backdrop scene and adds realism. You can use just the background and the moss mat for flooring, but adding some twigs, shrubs and even a rock or two in the scene gives it that extra touch that makes it look more realistic. You can also use loose moss to hide the base of models. In this picture, loose moss was used to cover the attached base on the Schleich farmyard chickens. It's bright green color is distracting and would detract from the realism; covering it with moss makes the chicks look as if they're just scratching in the ground, a realistic prop for your model horse photo show setups.
