Assemble A Simple Display Box for Your Miniature CollectionAssemble Your Miniature Display Box Materials Materials for assembling a simple display box. Lesley Shepherd Materials and Supplies Needed- Two or three related collectible items to display. These might be a group of similar miniatures, items related to a trip you took or a few related items which are waiting for you to enlarge your collection before they go on regular display. The box should be wide enough and deep enough to hold your selection of miniatures, but not so large that it dwarfs the collection.
- A photograph or illustration to act as a backdrop for the collection. For trip related items find a photo from your trip that relates to the miniatures you will showcase. For dollhouse miniatures you might find a photo of an appropriate room setting in a home magazine. For a railroad look for a photograph of the type of scenery you hope to use for the final display.
- Acrylic or latex paints or decorative papers to decorate the outside of your box.
- Glue, scissors, and wax adhesive to hold your miniatures in place if they need to stay put on their display shelf. Wax adhesive is available from craft and miniature shops.
