Form the Ribbon Loops

Ribbon is carefully controlled in floral bouquets to create the shape or line of the bouquet. You will need to make five ribbon loops with a trailing end. The ends will be trimmed in the final step. Make each loop by forming a small loop of ribbon, then allowing one end of the ribbon to run out from behind the loop. Attach the loop to a wire by wrapping thread (preferred) or florist's tape around the base of the ribbon loop.

Form the Central Bow To make the central bow for a bouquet (large or small) fold a piece of ribbon so there are six loops, three on each side of a cluster. Gather the ribbon together by folding a wire over the cluster, then twisting it tightly together against the wire. (See Photo) Although it looks flat, the bow can be coaxed into rounded loops. If you have difficulty with soft ribbon, use 1/8 inch wired ribbon from a craft shop.

Bend the Roses Attach a rose leaf just down from the base of each rose. When the join is dry, bend the head of the rose up between 60 and 90 degrees from flat. An angled rose will show it's face out of the bouquet, but allow you to keep all the wires flat together.
