To make dolls house or other miniature scale paper roses you will need:
- Airmail Weight Paper- or another paper which will allow some light through it. Acid free or rag based papers are best. You will need a 4 inch by 5 inch (10 by 12 cm) piece for petals for six to twelve roses and a similar sized piece for the leaves
- Water Color Paints- use the best quality you can afford, you will need dark green for the leaves, and red, coral, pink, or yellow for the flowers.
- Water Color Brush- A soft flat brush is best for applying color washes to paper.
- Paper Wrapped Wire - A few pieces of #26 wire cut to two inch lengths.
- Wire Cutters
- Paper Punches - You will need a heart shaped punch (1/4 inch for 1:12 scale flowers) and a rose leaf punch (I used one from a craft shop with three rose leaves)
- Sharp Curved Scissors
- Paper Embossing Tool - for this you can substitute a toothpick which has been rounded with fine sandpaper, or you can use a ball point pen which no longer works.
- Fine Pointed Tweezers - to make roses you need very fine points which can bend the lobes of the heart shaped petals to round them.
- An Eraser or Foam Mouspad – to shape the petals and leaves on
- PVA Glue – White Glue
- Acrylic Medium To make thick acrylic paint for the rose calyx and thorns.
