Take the remainder of the braid created in step 8 and use it to finish the edge of the basket.
Run a bead of glue along the basket edge, with slightly more glue on the back (lower) edge of the basket. The bead of glue should run across the spot where the handles join the basket.
Starting just behind one handle press the braided edging made in step 8 around the edge of the basket, covering all the wire ends from the base. The edging should be glued slightly more towards the underside of the basket, instead of along the top or inside edge.
Glue the braid over the handle ends where the handle joins the basket. Try to keep the braid evenly curved instead of dipping down to cover the ends of the handles (you may need to adjust your handles).
Finish the Edge by trimming the braid so that the two ends will meet exactly just behind the handle where you started the braid edge. Apply glue to a pin and use it to secure any loose ends on the end of the edging.
Set your basket aside to dry and fill it as you wish!
