Create a Tiny Bead of Glue on the End of a Thread

Lesley Shepherd

Good results with miniature blackberries in dolls house scales depends on using small amounts of glue. If you are making blackberries you want the glue to allow for 4-6 beads up the sides of the berry, if you are making Loganberries, Marionberries, or any of the other longer berry types, you may want more glue.

  • Squeeze out a bit of PVA (white or craft) glue into a depression on the flower palette or other glue holder.
  • You can cut thread lengths of ½ to ¾ inch lengths to use for each berry, or cut the berry off a longer thread when you have formed it, choose whichever method is easiest for you.
  • Dip the end of the thread into your glue to test how thick it is. You want a tiny blob of glue to be on the end of the thread (less than 1/16 of an inch or 1mm). Use green thread for berries on stems, white thread for berries which will be displayed picked. See the photo above for the correct amount of glue.
  • Thin your glue if necessary, then proceed to the next step.
