To create the effect of flames for a dolls house scale fire, or a fire for a railroad or Christmas village scene, cut a one inch by 3 inch strip of peacock (iridescent) cellophane wrapping paper, or similar size strips of yellow and red cellophane so that they are fringed on one edge. Cut the fringe irregularly and create points on the end of each fringe if you can, to help mimic flames.

Cut the cellophane into one inch strips and use tweezers to tuck a strip under each end of the fire beneath the top logs so that the fringe barely comes out from under the logs. Place another strip in between the two top logs completely covering the orange bulb. If you prefer, you can use an unfringed strip here, just crumple it well to help it resemble glowing coals. Check the flame effect you are creating by turning on your light. The cellophane should mirror the flashing of the bulbs, causing irregular bursts of red and yellow light from under the logs.
