Assembly Steps

Fitting the Pieces

  • Begin by running the dollhouse bulb socket wire through the lamp shaft, so that the bulb socket is held on top of the lamp shaft. Glue the socket to the shaft.
  • Feed the lamp shaft through the bear bead and push it down firmly into the base of the lamp, making sure the lamp wire is running free and is not caught up in the base. Glue the shaft to the base.
  • Cut a piece of paper slightly smaller than the lamp base, and with the wire in the channel you prepared for it, glue the paper to the underside of the base so that it covers the base bottom and holds the wire in the channel. Set aside to dry.
  • When the base has dried, turn the lamp so it is sitting up.

Reattaching the Plug

  • If you need a plug for the lamp take the main wire through the top of the plug and out through the bottom. (see how it came apart in step 3)
  • Separate the last ¾ inch of the wires and make sure you have about ¼ inch of copper wire showing at the base of each of the two wire sections.
  • Insert the wire into the pin holes on the bottom of the plug for a test fit. If copper wire is protruding from the top of the pin hole, trim the end of the wire so that it will fit in the pin hole with no bare wire showing out the top.
  • Once it fits into the pin hole, make sure the end of the wire feeds toward the middle of the plug and insert the long end of the brass pin (see step 3). Push the metal pin into the socket beside the wire until the metal stop is firmly seated in the plug.
  • Repeat with the wire and pin on the opposite side. Check that there is no bare copper wire poking out from the bottom of the brass pins.
Add the Lampshade and Test Connections
  • Mount your lampshade so that the centre of the wire harp is inserted into the top of the bead cap.
  • Test your lamp by plugging it in. Clean and refit the brass pins and copper wire if necessary.
  • Enjoy the light!
