To Make the Dolls House Lamp Shade

  • Separate the sections of the filagree bead cap until the cap is spread out flat from the centre hub.
  • Hold the cap on the top of the shade and measure how far you must bend the ends in order for them to fit inside the top of the shade.
  • Bend the ends down and check the fit.
  • When you have the bead cap the right size to fit inside the shade, take the strip of velum you cut in step five and fold it so that it will just fit inside the top of the shade. Glue it into a square.
  • Coat the outside of the square with glue and fit it down inside the top of the lampshade. Fit the bent parts of the bead cap between the shade and the top lining strip. Use tweezers to hold the square of lining in place so that the bead cap is held between the top of the shade and the 1/8 inch interior lining strip.
  • Set aside to dry.
  • When the top assembly has dried, place a bit more glue on the sections where the bead cap touches the paper, to make sure there is a good bond. Set aside to dry.
