Preparing the Lamp Shaft and Base for a Dolls House Lamp

Setting up doll house lamp parts

Setting up the Lamp Parts

    Run the Lamp Cord
  • Thread the cord through a 1 - 1 1/4 inch piece of tubing set into the hole in the bear bead.
  • Enlarge or straighten the hole if necessary with a drill or sandpaper. (Some holes are not straight and you need the hole straight or the lamp will be crooked.)

    Check the Lamp Height
  • Check to see that the lamp bulb is not too far above the bear. You want the total lamp to be 1 ½ to 2 inches high which is the correct size for 1:12 dollhouse scale. Adjust the length of the shaft if necessary.
  • Set the bear with the lamp shaft in it, onto the wooden base and mark where the wooden base needs to be drilled to accept the lamp shaft.
  • Use your craft knife or a drill to carve a hole in the base where the lamp shaft (tubing) will come through the bear bead. Carve the hole the correct size to hold the lamp shaft.
  • Carve a channel underneath the base to accept the wire, so that the lamp base will not tip when placed on a table.
  • Separate the parts and paint the base and the shaft (I painted the shaft to match the bear, and painted the base to resemble marble). Set aside to dry.
