Make a Miniature Needlefelt Raccoon (Or Other Animal)

The needlefelt technique is an easy way to create miniature animals with fur, or smooth miniature dolls, rugs, or other items for dolls houses or other scale scenes. This is an easy technique for a beginner, but the use of very sharp felting needles makes it an unsuitable project for children.

Time Required Three hours or less (depends on the item being made)

Materials Required

  • Wool or silk roving (unspun fiber) in white, grey or brown and black
  • 3mm diameter (thin)brown or black pipe cleaner
  • Fine, medium and coarse felting needles
  • Thick foam or fibre felting mat
  • Photo of a raccoon.
