Mix the Undercoat Color All of these painted finishes are based on the same undercoat. The white blotches in the sample photo show what happens if you do not remove any traces of wax or oil before you begin painting.

  • Create a mouse colored undercoat by mixing white acrylic paint with a drop of raw sienna paint and a touch of black. If your pale cream/beige paint color does not look warm enough add a drop of ochre (yellow) or raw umber to the base color.
  • Apply the Undercoat Add water to your paint mixture until it is the consistency of cream and use the soft brush to paint a solid undercoat over all surfaces of the furniture. Set aside to dry.
