Regular Gel Acrylic Medium (Semi Gloss shown)

From Lesley Shepherd, About.com

Regular gel will hold higher and stiffer peaks than soft gel. The semi gloss finish of this gel gives paint a soft eggshell sheen.

For miniatures this gel is good for creating icings on dollhouse and small scale food, it's semi gloss texture and ability to hold a shape allow miniature cake icings and whipped cream toppings with shape and depth. As it adds transparency to acrylic paints it is also good for water effects, creating water and ripple layers on other surfaces. It can be used to create varying depths of color when trying to achieve rapids or wave effects on water in scenery for railroad models.
