Lighting miniature and dolls house displays can be difficult, especially for Christmas villages or smaller scale dollhouse displays where heat must be kept to a minimum. Inexpensive LED light sets come as plug in or battery powered sets and give off very little heat in contained spaces. This makes them ideal for lighting sections of Christmas village displays or Halloween displays, where long term power isn't necessary.

Often sold as LED rice lights, the lights are available online and from major craft retailers, sometimes in the floral section where they can be used to light wreaths or floral displays. They come in colors for Christmas or Halloween (orange) and are also available in clear (icy white). The colors are very strong and bright. Newer sets have removable cylindrical light bulbs.

The sets have more lead wires than traditional Christmas lights so choose the wire color carefully as you may be working with up to a 1/4 inch thickness of wires along the length of the string. Most lights are set six inches apart.

Check the packaging for the light color as the flow of current creates the color of the light. All of them look clear in the package.
