Guide Review - Miniature Mosaic Craft Tiles
These tiny individual mosaic tiles by the Dutch Company, Leane Creatif, are approximately 3/16 of an inch square and 1/16 thick. (5mm by 1.5mm thick) Made of hard, smooth plastic, they come in a package of four colors plus a matching sand for grout. There are more than 150 tiles of each of four colors in a package.
The miniature mosaic tiles have been designed for use as decorations for greeting cards, but have lots of scope for the miniaturist. The plastic, although hard, can be cut with a craft knife or heavy kitchen shears, to trim tiles to hard to fit places. If you want to create mosaic table tops or flooring, or tile back splashes for 1:48 scale kitches, these may be a craft material you want to look out for.
Currently the miniature mosaics are sold as part of the Mylo and Friends line and seem to be available more widely in Europe, the UK and Canada than anywhere else. They can be found online through scrapbooking and rubber stamp suppliers.
