Hybrid Phalaenopsis orchids, also known as "Moth" or "Moon" orchids for their large front petals, date back to the 1890's when they became a popular conservatory plant in England. This dollhouse miniature scale phalaenopsis is easy to make from painted paper and wire. The petals can be hand cut, or adapted from paper punched with simple 'daisy' punches. Phalaenopsis have a wide range of flower colors and patterns, from solids through to stripes and spots. Before you begin to make your miniature orchid, take a close look at photographs or real flowers so you can make your tiny paper version as realistic as possible.
