To Create a Bookend Miniature Display you will need:

  • Part Diagram in pdf (acrobat reader) format
  • 1/2 inch (12mm)MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) or Baltic Birch Plywood in the dimensions given on the plan (or dimensions to suit your project) overall amount approximately 8 inches by two feet (21 by 60 cm)
  • PVA (White glue) or Wood Glue (Yellow Glue) You can also use small wood dowels to hold the mdf more securely than wood glue alone. If using dowels you will need an appropriate size drill to create the dowel holes. Screwing or nailing mdf together on the end grain is not recommended.
  • A Scale Window if you wish to portray a window or a view in your miniature scene.
  • Felt paper or felt for the underside of your bookend to protect the furniture
  • 1/2 inch (12mm) wood edging strip - iron on veneer or ½ inch (12 mm) wood edging or molding. Approximately 4-4 ½ feet (1.35m)
  • Leatherette or vinyl or leather look paper to finish the outside back and side of the bookend where they face the wall and the books (two letter size sheets)
  • Miniature finishes and materials to complete your miniature scene
