Turn the body of the hippopotamus gently right side out, making sure the arms and legs are completely turned.
Use tweezers to put small amounts of stuffing into the head section, do not over stuff!
When the head is soft, but well shaped, take your needle up through the batting at the center of the neck (going through the body) and come out where you want to place the first eye. Attach a bead to your needle and take the needle back through the head, coming out just below the neck. Pull the thread tight to pull the eye into the head and shape the head. Take your needle back through the neck and up to the eye, making a second stitch to secure the bead, and shape the head. Take the needle across under the felt to the site of the second eye, attach the eye, and take the needle back through the head, coming out under the chin. Pull the thread to set the second eye, and take another stitch back though the chin and up to the eye, securing the bead in place. Bring the needle back down through the inside of the neck, and secure the thread to the inside of the body at the base of the neck.
Glue the pink felt to the base of the grey felt ear, leaving some grey showing. Sew the ears in place on the top of the head as shown.
If you don't have pink felt, use acrylic paint to add pink to the inside of the ears.
