Sew the Top of the Head to the Cheeks

Miniature felt hippopotamus head sewn to the lower jaw, just prior to turning.

Sew the top sections of the hippo's head to the underneath and side sections of the jaw.

The next step is to sew the top of the head to the cheeks and the front of the lower jaw.

Fold the top of the longer pattern piece at double round curved lines so that the top of the jaw on the longer pattern pieces meets the front of the lower jaw.

Start stitching the center of the upper jaw to the lower jaw and continue around one side, matching the curves, until you reach the fold at the top of the head.

Go back to the center of the jaw (mouth) and match the curves on the other side to stitch the head together as shown in the photo above.
