Make a Miniature Felt Hippopotamus

Stitch the Lower Jaw and Cheeks of the Hippopotamus Head

Start sewing the miniature hippow by joining two cheek sections from the large pattern piece to the lower jaw of the smaller pattern piece.

Begin the hippopotamus by stitching the side of the lower jaw to the bottom of each of the rounded cheek pieces on the larger felt piece. The cheek pieces are the slightly rounded arms that stick out above the regular arms on the larger pattern piece. The lower jaw stitches across the cheek piece from the edge of the neck until the cheek piece curves upwards. Sew both sides of the lower jaw as shown in the photo above using a back stitch.

• Stitch the Lower Jaw and Cheeks of the Hippopotamus Head
• Sew the Top of the Head to the Cheeks
• Turn the Head Right Side Out
• Tuck the Head Inside the Body and Continue Sewing
• Finish Sewing the Mini Hippo's Body
• Turn the Body and Finish the Head
• Stuff the Remainder of the Miniature Hippo's Body
