To finish painting your miniature chickadee or titmouse, find a reference photo which clearly shows the birds markings. The black capped chickadee I was trying to model has a grey tail, grey wings, sometimes with black or white stripes, and a buff stomach. It also has a black cap which includes the eye area, and a black throat.
Work with thinned acrylic, or watercolor paints and apply paint sparingly with a very fine paintbrush. You don't want to see the paint texture, you want it to blend into the birds body. If you are painting chickadees which don't have feet, insert a pin into the base of the body as a holder while you gently paint your bird. Use fine brush strokes to blend the edges of the wings and the base of the tail into the bird's body. Set the finished bird aside to dry thoroughly.
This particular family of birds has a very wide range of varieties. You can make blue tits, bush tits, yellow bellied tits and all manner of tiny birds by varying the body, wing and tail colors, and in some cases adjusting the size.
