These tiny "toy" cars and trucks are made from scraps of craft wood, sanded to shape and assembled with tires made from beads and brads. The toys are easy to make, and can be used on Christmas decorations, under a dolls house Christmas tree, in a miniature toy shop, or as vehicles for a micro scale glitter village. The shapes are easily adapted to make a variety of different models, and you can add extra detail by painting in or gluing on windows.
Materials Used to Make Miniature Toy Cars and Trucks
- Craft Wood -To make these tiny trucks and cars, which are less than 1/2 inch long, I used scraps of craft wood 1/4 inch by 1/8 inch (7mm by 3mm) and 1/4 inch by 3/16 inches (7mm by 5mm). You could use large match sticks and frozen treat sticks or any suitable bits of wood in your scrap pile.
- Sanding Block I used fine sand paper on a scrap of craft wood as a sanding block
- PVA glue
- Seed Beads - choose some in a size suitable for tires for your scale. Mine are roughly 5/32 (4mm)across
- Small Brass Brads - or dollhouse nails, or shortened dressmakers pins.
