Paper Mache - Papier Mache

By Lesley Shepherd, About.com

Definition: Paper Mache or Papier Mache is a traditional modelling and sculpting material used to create lightweight, sturdy models and dioramas. Papier mache always contains paper held together with a form of glue. The glues range from organic glues to PVA glues, and the paper can take the form of paper flakes, strips, or torn pieces. Although many people use newsprint for paper mache projects, for miniatures, thinner types of paper - acid free tissue, or toilet paper may give a better end product.
