Definition: Digital Command Control (DCC) is a method of controlling locomotives on a model railroad layout. DCC allows more than one locomotive to occupy the same electrical section of track and operate under particular controls (speed, stop/go, lights on/off, sound on/off etc.) DCC systems operate under particular standards from the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) which include such things as a standardized 8 pin NMRA socket to accept the decoder information.
Examples:
When running a DCC controlled model railroad, every train can be under individual controls while running on the same track as other trains.
