Fit the Biscuits into the Case and Join it Together

Small wood biscuits protrude from the side of a plywood bookcase before the joins are glued.

Using a biscuit tool, small biscuits are slotted and glued into the sides of a baby house case. These biscuits will join the 1/2 inch plywood sides to the top and bottom of the cabinet.

Fitting the Case Together

To fit the case together it is preferable to use a biscuit joiner on 1/2 inch plywood. Test fit your pieces and mark the position of the biscuits on pieces which will be joined. This case is assembled with the top, bottom and back fitting inside the sides. The back is fitted and glued to the top and bottom before the sides are attached.

If you are not using a biscuit joiner, assemble your joints and glue the back, top and bottom, before adding the sides, which sandwich the top, bottom and back pieces.

Make sure excess wood glue is cleaned from the joins and seams as it will discolor the wood and reject stain.

Clamp your joins securely and leave the case clamped overnight if possible to dry.
