On veneered surfaces, like the Baltic birch plywood used here, try to remove most of the marks you made when building the piece using a simple white plastic artists eraser. This will remove most of the marks and finish sanding will usually take off the rest. This step is only necessary if you will be applying a clear coat to the piece and will see the wood. If you will be painting the house and doors you can ignore this step.
