It is easy to add a bit of detail to the front of a basic dollhouse to create a more finished look. The townhouse baby house project showed you how to build a simple baby house /bookcase the right size for a dolls house roombox collection. The front opening doors for that project were left plain. The steps that follow show you how to finish the wood for a traditional wood front, and also how to add your own quoin and cornice details to your basic house.

Quoins are strips of stone that run up the corners of a building. On a front opening dollhouse they often hide the side hinges and disguise the split in the front of the house.
