Make A Bakery Case With a Clear Top and Shelf in Quarter Scale

By , About.com Guide

Add the Base Trim and Bottom Shelf To the 1:48 Scale Bakery Case
Basic structure of a one inch wide quarter scale dolls house bakery case made from wood veneer tape.

A quarter scale bakery case measuring just one inch wide has a slot to hold a shelf, a base shelf for larger pastries, and has 'panel's on the base made from glued on wood veneer.

Use your iron and cloth to attach the base trim pieces to the front and sides of the bakery case base support, setting the trim pieces evenly in from the sides and front of the case base.

Once the trim is in place, take the bottom shelf section and iron or glue it onto the base, lining it up so that there is an even overlap of the base on both sides of the case. The front edge of the bottom shelf will overlap the base slightly as shown. Set aside until the glue sets.

Round the front and side back edges of the bakery case bottom shelf slightly with fine sandpaper. At this point you should paint or finish your case, taking care to avoid filling the shelf slot at the back of the case with paint or finish. If you will be using a wooden shelf in your case, finish it at the same time as you finish the case.

Set aside to dry
