Mix a bit of ochre colored pastel or ochre colored polymer clay into a small amount of liquid polymer clay (about 1/2 teaspoon is fine) to create a caramel colored liquid. Use a toothpick to run fine lines across a section of your baking tile, beside your puff pastries. If you cannot get fine enough lines by dripping them with a toothpick, use your clay blade to cut apart the liquid clay and pull it into fine lines. Pull the liquid into a rough line, then pull your blade at a slight angle down the line to spread it thinner.
Reserve about half of your liquid polymer clay caramel for the assembly step.
Bake the clay according to the instructions for the brand you are using.
