Plan Toys is a company in Thailand who make environmentally safe education toys from natural materials. Winners of several awards, they produce some very innovative dolls and dolls house designs among their wide toy range.
The Plan Toy's dollhouse dolls feature hardwood bodies. Hands, heads and feet are made from rubberwood with soy based inks marking the facial features. The dolls have flexible arms and legs made from wire encased in woven cord. The dolls have yarn hair, and non removable clothing, making them difficult to clean if used in group play situations.

Plan toys have a range of dolls, including both modern and traditional familes and a wide range of ethnic families and single dolls. The dolls are roughly 1:12 dolls house scale as you can see from the photo comparing the plan toys grandmother with a dolls house doll and a 1:24 scale Playmobil figure. The hands, feet and heads are well rounded, but the body torsos have sharp corners. The hands are not designed to hold items.
The dolls have wide feet which helps them to stand easily without support. Flexible wire arms and legs allow them to be posed in the dolls house furniture. Unfortunately their yarn hair and fixed clothing make them difficult to clean, and their sharp, square torsos make them difficult to create removeable clothing for. They are better as family, rather than group play toys.
The dolls are sturdy and well made, easily held in small hands and offer good play value. They are suggested for an age range of three years old and up. There are a wide range of accessories and dolls house furniture designed to fit them. A set of farm animals in a similar style are also available. All pieces (including the dolls) are in a basic modern style.
Price Individual dolls are priced at around $6. Family sets of four dolls are between $16 and $20 per set.
