Finish Dolls House Frames You can buy several types of pre made dolls house frames or you can make your own fairly easily. The square frame in the photo above is a commercially available plastic frame that can be finished in a variety of styles, as can the metal oval frame next to it.

Use Scrapbook Supplies The gold frame is a ribbon slider from a scrapbook store with the center strip cut out. These sliders are available in a number of different finishes and styles.

Use Cardboard Easy frames can be made by cutting out a suitable shape from lightweight cardboard, then covering it with foil, gold paint, or fine material to make a frame.

Use Veneer or Veneer Tape You can cut out pieces of iron on wood veneer with decorative bladed scissors, or regular scissors to make interesting wood frames. The veneer can be ironed onto a cardboard backing to make the face of a frame. As the veneer is fairly thin, you can build up a wooden frame by using two or three layers of veneer, cut to slightly different sizes or patterns and ironed together to make a more complex frame. For the most realistic style of veneer frame, mitre the corners of the frame the same way standard art frames are made.

Use Embossed Foil You can stamp or emboss a shape on common cooking foil, then fill the wrong side of the embossed shapes with glue and allow it to dry. Trim the foil to fit on a cardboard base frame and glue it to cover the cardboard. The glue will hold your embossed shapes in place on the underside of the foil. As an alternative you can cover a cardboard frame with foil and use shaped foil stickers or foil lace on top of the underfoil.

Use Polymer Clay polymer clay can be rolled out and cut to make custom frame sizes, then decorated or textured with rubber stamps, beads, or various types of foils and mica powders before baking.
