If you have not printed your miniature plates on photo paper, run a thin layer of gloss or matte acrylic varnish across the print to protect it when you emboss it.
If you were unable to print on heavier paper stock, glue your printer paper to a lightweight card or photo paper weight paper before you proceed.
Cut the dollhouse scale plates along the outside edges, cut the cups along the outside edges and trim the tabs on the circular base to the rim of the circle.
To Shape the Miniature Plates
Lay a paper plate blank on a circle opening in the template which is two sizes or more smaller than the diameter of the paper plate blank. Make sure the blank is centered over the circular opening. Using the embossing tool (or an empty ball point pen)rub a line around the inner edge of the circular opening to create a plate rim. Continue to emboss across the bottom of the plate until the plate base is even and the rim of the plate is slightly raised. Color the cut edge of the plate with a suitable marker if necessary to disguise the white edge
To Assemble the Miniature Cups
Cut the cup free of the paper backing. Gently roll the cup around a straw or other narrow columm (knitting needle, pencil). Fold down the tabs on the bottom of the cup using tweezers (fold so that they will go up inside the cup when it is assembled). Apply glue to the plain side of the cup blank and to the tabs on the bottom. Hold the cup in a set of tweezers and bend the cup around the tabs at the base of the cup. Join the sides together and overlap them along the edge which is glued. Use the tweezers to press the glued sides together.
