Scale SizeThe designs shown are in 1:12 scale. If you wish to resize them to a different scale, reduce the size of the illustration via your printer software. Check the actual size of your printed sample to the scale ruler on the illustration. For 1:12 scale decorations, the ruler should measure 3 inches as shown. For 1:24 scale, the ruler would only measure 1 1/2 inches and so on for each modification in scale. There is also a pdf (acrobat reader) version of this file.
Before Assembling Once you have printed the designs out on bond paper, coat the designs with a thin layer of acrylic varnish or clear sealant and allow it to dry. This will protect the design and prevent it from damage as you bend and fold it into shape. When the varnish is dry, cut the designs out along the outside lines and fold them to shape.
To Assemble the Bags Using the plain bag template as a reference, fold the trick or treat or treat bags along the fine lines printed on the bag.
- Apply a thin layer of white glue to the tab on the side of the bag and the two small tabs on the bottom of each bag.
- Fold the tab on the side of the bag in behind the side of the bag and glue the tab to the back of the bag side, lining up the printed line on the top of the tab with the edge of the bag.
- Fold the two small tabs on the bottom of the bag up and press one larger bottom edge against both tabs. Now apply glue to the bottom edge of the remaining bag base and press it in place against the base you glued to the tabs.
- Allow the completely shaped bag to dry.
- When the bag is dry and the tabs are secure, use embroidery thread or quilting or buttonhole thread to create a bag handle. If you wish you can fold a narrow paper handle from a scrap of white paper.
- Glue the ends of the handle inside the top of the bag and leave to dry.
