Prepare the Back of the Miniature Needlework Cushion

The back of a miniature cushion showing the basting lines as a guide for the final stitching.

The cushion backing has been folded over the needlework front of a miniature cushion, leaving the right sides together ready to stitch just inside the basting line.

Turn the basted needlework on the backing fabric so that the right sides of the fabric and the needlework are facing and the basting stitches are facing up. The needlework will be inside the layers of backing fabric.

Set your sewing machine to a fine stitch and sew the fabrics together on three sides, sewing just inside the layer of basting stitches.

Leave one side free of stitches. This will be the opening you will use to turn the cushion right side out.
