Baste the Mini Needlework To The Cushion Backing

The miniature needlepoint or cross stitch basted to a double size piece of backing fabric.

The cross stitch or needlepoint sample for a dolls house pillow or needle cushion is basted to the right side of a coordinating pillow fabric.

Begin to make the miniature needlework cushion or needle holder, by basting the needlework scrap to a piece of fabric backing. Baste the needlework, right side up, to the right side of the coordinating fabric. Make sure you sew just outside the finished needlework as you will use the basting lines as a guideline for sewing the cushion sides. Sew these basting lines as straight as possible.
