Mark Out the Toes Once you have a basic wedge shaped blank sized for a doll's foot you can mark out the toes using a clay knife or other thin blade. First shape the doll's foot so that the front 1/3 of the foot is wider than the middle section or the heel. This section should also be pressed down so that it is the thinnest section of the foot. See the photo. For a better view of the basic shape of the top of the foot, see the photo in step 7 where the ankle is being added.

When you have the foot roughly shaped, use the blade to cut the toe end of the foot into sections for toes. You will need three cuts that create equal sections (for toes) and one cut which goes a bit further into the foot, and which creates a slightly wider toe for the big toe. Make sure the big toe is cut at an angle rather than straight into the foot. (Look at your own foot for reference.)
