Every so often I remember life before cardboard and rigid plastic. Before the 1950's everything arrived in a simple wooden box or crate. The crates were saved and used for all kinds of other purposes. Building a simple wooden box like a crate in small scale is a good practise project for a beginner, and forms the basis for all kinds of more difficult woodworking projects.
These crates can be used for displaying produce, packing boxes for shops, or storage boxes for special household items. You can also use them to store special miniatures which must be tucked away, or make them slightly larger and make drawers for storing special miniatures.
