Bristle brooms for scale miniature garages, stables, warehouses and boats are easy to make. The same technique can be used to make wooden or plastic backed hair brushes and dandy brushes for the model horse stable. The brooms and brushes are made from paint brush bristles, so choose an inexpensive paint brush in a suitable color to make your brush. Similar bristles are used with a slightly different technique to make polymer clay hairbrushes. If you prefer, you can use the method shown with the polymer clay to make dandy brushes and bristle brooms as well, but they won't be as wonderfully accurate as the ones made with the techniques in this tutorial.
A third method of making simpler bristle brushes involves sanding down and painting sections of children's tooth brushes. Check dollar stores for cheap toothbrushes which can be adapted or painted to make miniature bristle brushes.
