A paper backing applied to your miniature flocked rug will help to disguise any areas where the flocking is not even. It will not hide complete holes in your flocking! Use a coordinating color to your background flock unless you want to experiment with printed paper backing designs behind your flocked layer. This is sometimes very effective with lighter colors of flocking.

In the example photographed above, a piece of blue note paper was used as a slight contrast so readers can view it better. This color is close enough to the background color, and slightly mottled in color, so it works well as a background, even though it is not a close match to the color of background flock on the rug.

To attach the rug to it's backing paper, peel off the protective coating from the remaining side of the double sided tape or photomount and carefully roll the flocked rug over the backing paper so that no wrinkles form as you stick it down. If you didn't use photo mount material but glued your flock to paper, you do not need to add an extra paper layer. This layer just evens out the back of the rug to tone in with the flocking.
