Variations in a single mold

Dinky Toys used the same molds for several years and often produced several variants. Within the range of Empire Flying Boats, certain names and identification numbers are rarer than others, although the boats are identical. Early versions came with holes on the top for gliding clips which could allow the plane to be dropped to the ground,or whizzed down a string. Later models may not have these holes. Shown here are the models Centurion, Cambria and Canopus with a colored variant in the background. Prices range from $75 to $600 depending on condition and whether the model comes with original packaging.
