If you are making full size crackers place the popper through the center of the tube and insert the favor, hat and verse before you wrap the tube shape.
Apply Glue to the Skewer and wrap your chosen paper or ribbon at least 1 1/2 to 2 times around the skewer (or tube). Pre roll foil papers on a longer skewer to shape. Use a bit of glue to fix the center wrapping in place.
Twist the Paper Ends which stick out past the tube, so that the paper or fabric is gently gathered together.
Tie Ribbon at the ends of the skewer (tube). In full size crackers this keeps the contents in place. For full size crackers do not tie the ribbon so tight that it cuts into the popper ends. For miniature crackers tie this ribbon as tightly as you can to shape the cracker. Once tied you can cut off the extra ribbon to leave a narrow band, or use fine pointed tweezers or scissors to curl the ribbon into tiny tendrils. Cut off any excess ribbon after curling, the longer pieces of ribbon were used to make it easier to tie the knot.
Gently Pull the Free Ends of the Cracker to Shape Use tweezers to unroll the cracker paper or fabric on the free side of the ribbon. The extra paper you wrapped around the cracker will make these ends a bit larger than the cracker body. Use the tweezers or your fingers to push the ends of the cracker towards the fixed center tube, covering the ribbon ties slightly or completely.
Trim the Cracker Ends Trim the free ends of the cracker to suit the width of the center. For 1:12 scale crackers the total length of the cracker should be between 3/4 of an inch and 1 inch (2 – 2.5 cm). For full size crackers the total length will be 9 – 12 inches.(23 to 30 cm)
Decorate the Cracker Center using small pieces of tape, sequins, punched paper cut outs, or bands of coordinating paper or ribbon trims.
Set your celebratory table with your decorative crackers!
