Traditional glass bird Christmas tree ornaments can be hard to replicate in dolls house scale, but these tiny birds look like they are made of blown glass with spun glass tails. The trick is in the metallic glazes, which are so thin that they keep the detail of the polymer clay crisp, even in this tiny size.
This project requires patience and a few special materials so it is listed as an intermediate rather than a beginner project. A patient beginner can get good results, they just might need a bit more practise.
To create these polymer clay based ornaments, the clay is fired in stages to make it easier to handle. This project works best if you are doing multiple cures for other polymer clay projects, or if you are making several birds or working as a group.
