To give your tree a correct evergreen shape, build 1/3 of the tree from the base with your longest branches, then switch to the middle length of branch and build another third, ending at least 1 inch from the top of the tree with your smallest branches. In the photo above, this eight inch tall tree now has three lengths of branches in place. One third of the branches are 2 1/2 inches long, the middle third of the tree has branches 2 inches long, and the upper third of the tree has branches 1 1/2 inches long. All the branches are curled approximately the same amount.
When you reach a point 1 inch from the top (less on smaller trees) proceed to the next step which will show you how to create a finished top for your tree.
