Where It All Began

By , About.com Guide

Usually people's hobbies grow rather than shrink in size. Josephine is an artisan who began with full size dolls and bears, and whose work then shrank in scale.

Josephine Parnell of Dolls House Bears is the creator of a line of charming miniature character bears. She began her career making regular toys, clowns, rag dolls and bears, and selling them at craft fairs. Always fascinated by miniatures, she began making little bears attached to key rings as an addition to her stock. That developed into making proper little bears as a bear for a normal size doll. Soon she found that she was making more little doll bears than dolls as the little bears were popular. Unaware of specialist fairs, a customer introduced her to a bear fair, and mini bears became her stock in trade.
